The guide below will help you make the correct decision for your product requirements.

What does the term ‘GSM’ mean? Here’s a quick guide….

‘GSM’ is a measurement of weight, not thickness. Below is a list of weights and their common uses. Please contact our customer services team if you require any stock samples.

80gsm: Similar to standard photocopy paper; commonly used for letterheads and business forms.

90 - 100gsm: A thicker version of photocopy paper.

115 - 130gsm: Lightweight stock suitable for throwaway flyers and pamphlets.

150 - 170gsm: Moderate thickness paper suitable for higher quality flyers and brochures

200gsm: Between a paper and a card stock this is ideal for brochures in stands.

250gsm: Lightweight card stock suitable for single page brochures and header cards.

300 - 350gsm: Moderate card stock, commonly used for heavy weight posters and business cards.

Uncoated: Similar to copy paper, the ink will soak into this stock. Commonly used for letterheads and with comps, or flyers wanting a more natural feel. Large solid print areas can take some time to dry, which may delay your job, especially if it requires folding.
The 340gsm Uncoated stock used for business cards only is Splendorgel which has a very smooth feel compared to normal uncoated stock and print results are quite vibrant.

Gloss: This is a coated paper with a smooth glossy finish. Larger runs ('offset') on this stock will include a gloss aqueous coating to help seal the ink and prevent setoff.

Matt: This is a coated paper with a smooth matt or slightly silky finish. Larger runs ('offset') on this stock will include a silk aqueous coating to help seal the ink and prevent setoff.
